Lamentations 3:21-23 – “This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. His mercies are new every morning.”
The book of Lamentation is sandwiched between Jeremiah and Ezekiel. 5 chapters of ‘tears & wailings’ after Jeremiah witnessed Judah’s downfall and the capture of Jerusalem.
In the midst of despair, Jeremiah recalls God’s goodness & hope filled his heart!
I read this:
“This means that God doesn’t hold your mistakes against you, he gives you a chance to start fresh every day if you ask Him for forgiveness.”
God doesn’t want you to live in guilt or sadness because of how you acted or what you did in the past. He wants you to treat each day like it is a brand new gift and a fresh start.
God shows you mercy by wiping your slate clean every day. We don’t deserve this, but we serve a gracious and mighty God. Because of His son Jesus dying on the Cross for us, we are able to repent of our sins and are forgiven and made new.
Pause & Ponder!
Where do you need a fresh start?
Delete & Empty your ‘recycle bin’ of memories that deplete hope.
Recall God’s mercies!
Recall His grace!
Recall His goodness!
Count your blessings – the breath!
Put your hands in His and ask Him to pull you out of the miry clay!
Yes! His grace is more than sufficient! Have a hope-filled day!
